Soo, lately ive been thinking its time to upgrade from my g3258 into a different CPU as games are core more demanding these days
My current build:
MOBO- H81m-P33
CPU-G3258 4.2
RAM-8GB DDR3
PSU-500w
HDD-WD Blue 1tb
GPU- r9 270 sapphire
I was thinking to upgrade to i7 4790k and later on in life upgrade the gpu im looking for a cpu that shall at least last 3+ years on game im an casual gamer so i dont think ill be overclocking and neither 4k so what would be the perfect cpu

Solution
That motherboard is not for overclocking, so an unlocked K chip is not needed, and the price premium for the factory overclock is pretty steep. Since you have a discrete GPU, the Xeon 1231v3 that I use in my signature system would be a good premium choice. Four powerful cores and hyperthreading with a decent Turbo Boost, and cheaper than any Intel i7.

Total noob at overclocking here 😛, just wandering the reasons you say this board is not for OC when Msi say it has overclock genie.

You can overclock your G3258 because it is unlocked on any board. To run a 4790K and overclock it, you need a Z97 board. If you do not want to overclock, why pay a lot of an overclockable CPU? Get a Xeon 1231v3 which has almost all the features of the i7 and a few more, but costs a lot less.
