So is my GPU done for?

Two weeks while I was watching a video, I had really bad artifacting and my PC crashed. After that the only way I could boot was without a GPU hooked up. Finally after endless troubleshooting, Three mobos, two cpus, two gpus, and two PSUs I managed to get a video signal from it.

This is with DVI only, I still can't get anything out of the hdmi.

Current specs:
Asrock z77
I5 3570
8GB ddr3
750W EVGA PSU
And the problem GPU is an Asus Strix R9 390.

Recently, my 2 year old EVGA FTW 2.0 970 stopped working mid game. I rebooted, and the computer refused to post.

I figured something big fried, perhaps the PSU. So I replaced my PSU, and the computer still refused to post. So out of curiosity, I pulled the GPU out, and the comp of course magically posted, and everything else was fine after extensive testing.

So I RMA'ed it, and they didn't tell me what was wrong, but they sent a brand new 970 back. This sounds extremely similar to the issue I was having, and I can't help but wonder if your GPU died as well.

I would recommend RMA'ing it. Also, another way I confirmed that it was indeed the GPU was I stuck an old 560 ti in the same slot, and the comp booted right up. If you have an old GPU laying around try swapping it in and seeing what happens.

HDMI works fine with the onboard video. So it's not that.

Sold all my old cards, so I'm just going to buy another GPU tomorrow. I have an RMA setup with ASUS. Just sucks cause this is my second RMA with this GPU model and they don't pay shipping ($40!)
I get that stuff happens, but I'm probably going back to Sapphire for my next card.
