I don't know anything about overclocking but I followed a little guide for my cpu/mobo combo and I wasn't sure if I was actually at 4.6ghz or not. I have cpuz and it shows my core speed at 1600mhz, than it jumps back and forth to 4600mhz. Stays at 4600mhz when I am playing counter strike. Temps don't go above 60c while i'm playing. Im good to go and am at 4.6ghz when I game right? as long as i don't run into any issues.

so like prime95? if it is stable i can increase the oc?

Yes, but make sure it is version 26.6. If it is stable, the temps aren't too high and your voltage isn't too high, you could try increasing it but that's up to you.

awesome thanks. what temps should I stop at. i just got a haf 912 case with 2 200m fans, and a 212 evo.

If Prime95 gets to 80-85c+ then you should stop the test as the temps when gaming and rendering will be above 70-75c and you want to keep it under 70-75c under general use loads. What is your current load voltage?
