hi folks,

should I stay away from any of mentioned below mobo's? and which one would be 'the modership' to pair with:

- ThermalTake Mozart TX tower
- Ryzen 7 1700X
- GTX 1060 Dual 6GB
- 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000
- Samsung 970 EVO 250GB M.2 SSD
- Be Quiet Silent loop 240 mm

here's my picks for the mobo (focus on: best VRM) :

- Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro

- MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

- ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING

- MSI X470 GAMING PLUS

- Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming

- MSI B450 Tomahawk

regards,
K.

Can confirm tomahawk is a bad ass. Paired with noctua cooler easily OC to 4.0 on (2600) all cores running super cool. The gaming series is a higher line. I liked tomahawk back panel over gaming non a.c. version. A.c. gaming had great Wi-Fi very well reviewed.

Don't buy the gigabyte it has really poor reviews. The Asus had some mixed reviews on newegg but I know some people with it and they love it. I'm a little biased towards msi since I have yet to have any issue with a single product they sell.

If you look at the reviews all the msi models are in the lead by far.

Maybe this can help you decide which is better for you, the x470 or b450.

Read this review of the b450 carbon A.C.. probably the best on your list imo. Only reason I don't own that instead is due to being forced into upgrading much much sooner than originally planned and had to keep cost down

If you haven't bought the other parts yet you might like this memory. Runs. At 3200 no issues and is Samsung b die. Has to be the most bad ass memory I have seen.

hi t99,

thank You for Your input,

it lookes like every board has its own problems or QI...(just like most tings now a days, but biggest hustle is always when there's something wrong with mobo - regarding pc hardware of course :) )

this is my 11 years old one (still going strong and I never had any problems with it but...- 11 years old like the rest of my gear ssooo...time for something new :) ):

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/evga-nforce-680i-sli-black-pearl-watercooled-silent-socket-775-pci-express-ddr2-motherboard-122-c-mb-004-ea.html

I already bought 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000 (if I could find Patriot's at some physical store I would return LPX in favor of the others but I can't so LPX it is :) )

this one gonna by more than tricky for me...

as I see things right now MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC is ahead of:

- ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING

and then:

- MSI X470 GAMING PLUS

followed by:

- Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming

- MSI B450 Tomahawk

- Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro

It's crazy how the 2 x470 models have so many issues based on reviews. Based on these the gigabyte and msi 470's would make me nervous, but if you are buying local returns are much easier.

Here is a great deal on the GIGABYTE X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING AM4 AMD X470 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard , https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-145-060
I found.

Here is a great deal on the MSI X470 GAMING PLUS AM4 AMD X470 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard , https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-144-177
I found.

But then if you compare the tomahawk and gigabyte b450 they have almost all 5 star reviews, weird.

Didn't notice this last time, but the carbon has 17 - 5 star review and 1 negative only, but I don't count it because I bet it's user error. I bet their RAM isn't on the list. When I was searching for the fastest ram for the tomahawk they only had like 2 options at 3466mhz and it was Kingston hyper x or their other line. It's not a stretch to imagine both msi b450 use a lot of the same memory.

Get the gaming carbon and don't look back. Every review website praises it and online reviews from sellers are amazing. Here is a more detailed review I had bookmarked on my pc. Crazy cool vrm even at 4.3 on a 2600x. Looks like only downside is 4 sata port (if you need more than 4) and they mention idle power is a little high, but this was done around release and in sure updates have come

I laughed when I saw driver disc has some bloatware as a con, like who the hell has a DVD drive in 2018? I haven't had a DVD drive since switching over to only pc gaming 6 years ago. Removed it on my last 2 and my new fancy case doesn't even have a spot for one. Just download your drivers.

Good luck.

it is crazy...and it shouldn't be the case...maybe that's one of the reasons why there's no 10 years warranty like the one that fallowed with my old board :)

I only need two (max 3) sata ports (main and backup)...
