So many problems with my NEW PC

Ok, so a few months ago I built my brand new PC with these components:

Fractal r5

Asus Z170-A
Intel i7 6700k
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Kingston HyperX DDR4 16gb (Dual)
MSI GeForce Gtx 970 OC
EVGA SUPERNOVA 650W

Everything was going fine and dandy, but now problems are just happening that make me want to build another new PC, ok these are the symptoms:

Occasional whole pc laggs; audio pauses/laggs, mouse stops moving - this happens for up to 2 seconds, very noticeable.

I play Oldschool Runescape which is a VERY low spec game, and that game laggs for me, FPS spike drops, game freezes for up to 3 seconds, not at the same time as the problem mentioned above though.

I've thought of many reasons for above problems and I'll list them now:

-CPU damage, as Oldschool Runescape only utilises 1 single core from any given CPU, I thought perhaps my CPU was shipped faulty, or the motherboards CPU socket pins were bent/faulty on arrival, people have dismissed this saying if your CPU was damaged, your PC wouldn't boot. (NOTE: while playing Oldschool Runescape and OBS and other programs open, my CPU usage is at 9%...)

-Another thing was a virus of some sort; I booted in to safe mode and did an absolute 100% full system scan searching for every file type with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Microsoft security essentials, it returned 0 results, nothing. So unless a virus is hiding really well? I don't have a virus.

-Corrupt system files; I was reading another thread about this and so I did a scan with the cmd prompt in admin mode: sfc/scannow Didn't find any errors in the scan, so that's not it.

-RAM Usage; my RAM usage is currently sitting at 5.24GB, though I have NOTHING opened and running which I'm aware of that would be utilising that much RAM. Perhaps this is a virus doing this? It creeps up slowly as the computer is on, earlier today it was at 4.25GB...

^-Potentially damaged/faulty RAM?

Oh by the way I have windows 7.

I might have forgotten a symptom or two, but I'll add to this post as I remember/discover them.

I want to stream in the future and these problems simply have to be resolved, would love anyone and everyone for any help <3

Thanks in advance :)

I found a BIOS update from 26/07/16, I don't think I have this update, downloaded it and it's a .CAP file, I don't know what to do with it.

All of my drivers seem up to date other than this one which has always been there: http://puu.sh/ql3J1.png

Windows is up to date, checked through windows update.

I used thermal paste when installing the CPU, I watched many many guides and learnt a lot about computers months before I purchased my parts.

GPU driver is up to date, checked through geforce experience.

Hope this helps :)

I would update your bios and all the drivers for your mobo chipset lan audio ect

not sure on your mobo I have a gigabyte

I just download the bios from there website open it then copy paste it onto a USB drive restart the PC and go into bios and update it from the USB

Ok, just finished the BIOS update and re applied all my settings, fan speed etc.

Is there an automatic way to check/update drivers? If not should I just download the latest from the ASUS site which comes under my OS and MOBO?

there might be a utility that comes with you mobo to check for upgrades , I just do it one at a time

PCs are a pain sometimes :) my PC ran DOOM smooth as butter with my 980 ti I gave it to the kids and got a gtx 1070 and the game would freeze for a second or two at different times........ ( only game it had problems with ) change to the Vulken and it runs fine )

So it could be my GPU being straight up faulty?

By the way I forgot to say, I have stress tested my CPU many times with no errors.

No I was just trying to say that for me Vulken vs opengl in DOOM....... with a 980 ti Maxwell card had np in open gl but with the new Pascal cards it would freeze in open gl and it don't in Vulken

Would a program which isn't being run on the system be causing a problem? I mean a program which is installed but not currently running/opened... I'm just throwing ideas out there because I still have no clue! :(

I don't want to do that also it's a temporary fix for a permanent problem, if it is a driver then it's gunna happen again :/

EDIT: I want to find the actual problem
