So my EVGA 780 came today. I promptly installed it and fired it up. Wow, what a card. I only have one problem, it seems to make a higher pitched noise when the frame rate is around 120 fps and above. I have revved the fans up to 100% without the card under load, and it sounded normal, actually very quiet. It only makes the noise when the GPU is under load. I am assuming I will have to return it, but was curious if anyone else has had a similar experience, or may even know what could be. Also latest drivers were installed.

Solution
Sounds like coil whine to me, which would be normal for a graphics card. The high pitched squeal usually comes in when fps is in the 100s or above, especially during something like WEI testing. Try turning on adaptive Vsync in the Nvidia control panel and see how it goes. You can of course RMA the card, but there's no guarantee that you'll get one which doesn't whine.

My card has some coil whine too, it's annoying, but isn't an indication of anything wrong with the card. Usually it lessens with use. I was about the RMA my card and decided to just use it for a week...i realized i always have speakers on or headphones in and never really hear it...decided to keep it since it's not an issue in real use situations.
