So basically.. my college is very anal about any p2p sharing. I was updating my league of legends client (that I found out later has a p2p download option selected automatically) and 5 minutes in my pc was blocked by school internet. An automatic email was sent that I would be blocked for a month from using the wifi/Ethernet port with this pc. Is there a workaround for this? I tried talking to everyone but I was just told that any sharing of any kind resulted in this kind of block. kind of stupid...

This is an overall policy that can cause issues when just used without some research. The IT department should know that there are many legitimate downloads that can be use peer to peer downloading and have them look into it...
I would get in touch with the head of your college's IT department if you can. In person. He/ she might be able to lift your ban if you explained the problem face to face.

If you desperatley need coverage before then (or if they don't lift your ban) you can look into getting a mobile hotspot. They are expensive, but will provide a wifi signal to your computer using cellphone data.

P2P in a college dorm? LOL. I struggled for a while whether to let my tenant share my Internet connection, you never know who you are getting, these people can be doing k id dy porn, then as far as the authority knows, IT'S MY ACCOUNT! I decided to let tenant order their own service. It's called liability.

This is an overall policy that can cause issues when just used without some research. The IT department should know that there are many legitimate downloads that can be use peer to peer downloading and have them look into it further. What they are doing is saying "peer to peer is used, that equals illegal torrents of movies, etc.. therefore we block it". While most of the time they are right, in some cases they won't be. In those cases you can show them what happened and if the have brains and are not just being lazy and following procedure blindly, your should have your access restored. As long as running the game is OK on their network, I don't see why they would not enable your access.
