So my Power Supply died

So my psu died after using a gtx 970... i was just wondering what are the chances that the other components die with it? I can't test it so im asking by chance

My specs if it helps

asrock 970 pro3 r2.0 mobo
gtx 970
500g hdd
apex nx600w psu

That looks like a terrible quality PSU. Only 20A on a 600w unit? AWFUL. Most quality 350w units make more than that and a proper 600w unit should make 45a or more.

I would say there is a pretty solid chance it fried some stuff on it's way out.

No way to tell except getting a new PSU and keeping fingers crossed. This time get a quality PSU like Seasonic, XFX, Antec HCG or similar.

I am going to buy a new psu. Im just worried about the other component. The psu that died also says there is some overvoltage protection or some other safety stuff. Does this info change anything?? And thnx for the answers

That PSU is not good quality so if it says over-voltage protection it might be false-advertising, and even if it does have it built in, it is definitely not very good. So, no, it doesn't change anything.


You just need to get a new PSU (QUALITY) and see what's up with the computer.

No guarantees for anything, unfortunately. Cheap PSUs usually don't have much, if any, protection. So it's all a metter of luck now. Fingers crossed!
