So no consumer Pascal announced at GTC - I think all the rumors are wrong maybe.

It seems like Nvidia would have hinted a little more at a consumer Pascal release during GTC if it was actually on the horizon as quickly as most say it is. Why do so many think that an annoucement at computex is a possibility? It seems like new graphics cards for consumers could be all the way into 2017. This totally breaks the common 18 month cycle of course, but this is a different time for graphics cards than it was in the past. Nvidia isn't competing with AMD, they've been the winner for quite some time. No one is pushing them for more technology. The consumer market is totally happy with boxes sold with stickers on them that say 'VR Ready'. It's only people like us talking in forums and on reddit that feel like we need more power for the upcoming technology.

I've been wanting a GPU upgrade for awhile - I switched from 660's SLI to a 970 last week to tide me over until a good Pascal deal comes out. I think I should return it and wait a couple weeks and watch the 980 TI prices until I can find another good deal (seen them as low as $500-$550, but everything is over $600 this week it seems like.)

Imagine that, rumors turn out to not be viable information?
Jeers aside, I would just like to bring up two things.
Just because they talked about consumer availability in 2017 (mind you, this was the launch of a non consumer card as well), dosent mean we wont see pascal soon.
In my opinion? We will see it announced soon, but wont see a large scale roll out for a little while longer.
The other part is simply supply. I want to see some HBM2 cards, but that will take some time. Time that disrupts current launch schedules.

Yeah, I'm thinking that the first cards available will just be GDDR5 like the rumors suggest. HBM2 is where it's at but we may not see a consumer card with it at all for this series. What's going to be interesting is to see if AMD's Polaris has HBM2 at it's launch - if so, that could be a reason why nvidia is staying quiet for now.
