So, the title is slightly misleading... as I'm actually upgrading my machine. But I am changing so much that it is almost as if I was building it all new.
So I've been looking to upgrade my CPU for a while, and the new i5 8400 looks quite interesting.
First of all. Do you think there will come out newer boards that will support the 8th generation chips, or is it literally only the z370 that will support it for a reasonable amount of time?
Secondly, what do you think about this set up?
Mobo: https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Socket-Chipset-Z370A-Pro-Motherboard/dp/B075NFFNPJ/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1508804847&sr=1-2&keywords=z370
CPU: The i5 8400
Ram: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-16GB-8GBx2-PC4-19200-288-Pin/dp/B01BIWLED0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1508803747&sr=8-2&keywords=ddr4%2B2400%2B16gb&th=1
Heatsink: So I'm not quite sure. I currently have a pretty good heatsink for my i5 4570, but I'm not sure about the compatibility.. Can I re-use my current one, or will I need to buy a new one? If new one, any suggestions?
GPU: Not changing my current MSI GTX 1070
Case (if size is an issue): Zalman Z3 Plus
PSU: Not changing my 600w (will that be enough power? )
I also need the Mobo to have at least 4 Sata ports.
Any suggestions on cheaper or alternative options, as I don't know what other websites besides Amazon to use? Also, what do you think about the i5 8600k, is it worth it, or will just getting the i5 8400 be fine even though it's not overclockable.
