So What are the Great Leader Rules Again?

They keep chaning the rules without details and it confuses me. That
really messed me up in this Conquest.

I have a Great Leader from battle and it appears he can only build an
army. I had a great leader from science and I wasted it building a
different GW thinking I could use the one from battle on a better one.
Then this was greatly delayed when I founded out the GW required a
luxury to build it. They rule changes make my head spin sometimes.

In Conquests, military great leaders (MGL) can only rush buildings and small
wonders (including palace) OR create an army.

Scientific Great Leaders (SGL) can any improvement or small or great wonder.
The 'Scientific Age of Discovery' feature is broken so don't use them to
increase science.

It is possible that you cannot finish rush something that has been partially
rushed by some other means. It just seems to me i have run across that
situation.

Well I managed to get another and used to build a forbidden palace
which was a pretty good deal since it was going to take 40 turns.
This is a strange game playing Rise of Rome. I have truckloads of
cash but I can't rush build anything. I thought I was doing good but
then Carthage just landed about 25 elephants on one of my islands.
Those bastards.

Rise of Rome & the Middle Ages are the 2 most popular conquests according to
a poll i saw.
Carthage builds a buttload of galleys and constantly lands units on the
islands. The best way to keep them in check is to ally with Macedon who also
builds alot of galleys.

I got my best score as the Persians on monarch level.

That's interesting. I heard people complain here it was too hard and
that no one could really take Carthage playing as Rome. So I put this
one off as one of the last two Conquests for me to play.

Carthage hit me hard while I was trying to switch to Imperialism.
Once I did I used my cash to rush build stuff including galleries.
Now I am disabling their fleet and attacking on their home turf.

I pretty much had to ally with everyone against Carthage the whole
game. I have been best buds with Persia from the start but eventually
became pals with Macedon too once I realized how hard Carthage was to
take.

Well the Persians have been leading me the whole game. They seemed
to start off strong.

I almost think Imperialism is bugged. The civilopedia says there is support
costs, but in fact, your entire military is free.

Try not to take advantage of the 1st turn bug/exploit. The AI will agree to
most anything on the 1st turn because it hasn't evaluated its position yet.
I do my stuff and then finish the turn. Then if the AI gets *any* alliances
on thier 1st turn, i restart.

Basically, Persia can't get at you, but if you can get them to take egypt,
or if carthage takes egypt, then the 2 of them can duke it out. Until Egypt
is out of the way, Carthage is preoccupied with Rome.

They have some really nice land too :)
