I am about to put together a server for my house. I am thinking of using a motherboard that has a dual processor with two Intel PIII. Does anybody have any recommendations of what motherboard i should use?
Thanks,
Dave

out of curiosity are you really sure you want/need a dual cpu machine? Just asking, some people use them, some don't. You know I take it that you are limited to Linux or NT/2000 for dual cpu support and that it stillwon't help with games etc? Just asking.

For reference the Asus CUS-L2 board is THE reference board for PIII single cpu solutions...

I not sure if i need a dual processor. My idea is to create a small server. It is not for a business but for personal use. i will probably have 8 or more people using it. I might even have a web site on it with downloadable programs, music or videogames. Create a Lan so that a bunch of my friends can play each other from their homes. The reason for the dual processor is if i have more than five people on it at once,I don't want it to be slow and maybe even crash. I was thinking of using nt2000 but not sure yet. I not know how nt2000 will react with video games. I have never used Linux. Does Linux limit you from playing games and compared to NT2000 how does it match up?
Thanks,
Dave

For the best stability and compatability, I recommend a Single processor BX based PII or PIII solution, between 300 and 600MHz. You can probably buy something used for little money that will suffice.

I've just bought an Abit BX133, it seems to be the best BX on the market. I'm stiil gathering money for other parts, but I'll let you know in a couple of weeks how it goes.
