It has been close to a month and yet there still isn't a 1070 which is $379. Closest one is the Gigabyte gtx 1070 which is $400. I could not care less about LED's and all that bs, I just want a cheap 1070. How long until it happens?

Simple: when supply overtakes demand.

Unfortunately there is no other recourse but to wait. Right now people seem to be willing to spend more to get early, and the retailers are lapping it up.

since nvida priced the founders edition at 449 the msrp means nothing. now as long as company's have it below the ref price no one cares. and it might never happen because their is no reason for it to. people are buying at 400+ and no one will want to go lower

Can confirm, I got pretty sick of waiting and just bought an Evga 1070 SC for $440. The waiting just isn't worth saving $30-$40 (or whatever this card is supposed to sell for) to me

thinking of doing the same, I have someone selling me a 980Ti (Hall of Fame) for $340 but I might try taking it down to $300-320.

For a argument point, you could tell him you can buy a brand new sealed in the box 980 Ti on newegg. 😀

I wish! I live in Taiwan and Newegg here and other stores are still selling the 980Ti for $70-90 less than the 1080!

Dang, good luck then.

My buddy who is really good at finding supply/deals got his 1070 strix for $430 with tax from jet.com, he was happy enough to pay that now instead of waiting.

I remember being happy buying 780ti a few years ago just slightly after launch for $650 for an OC'd card that was normally $730, it's all about timing/some value and if you're ready.

Side note: Not a bad deal for a 980ti, you can't go wrong.

thats already a pretty good deal i would almost just take it unless your sure you can talk him down.

where?

Can confirm. Taiwan is really not the place to go shopping if you are looking for sales (Black Friday, Christmas discounts? we got none of those).

Remember when AMD dropped the price of R9 295x just a few days after Maxwell hit? The stores in Taiwan (CoolPC) didn't even move the price from its original (the $1500 equivalent) until several days BEFORE the listing was removed.

Same story with 980ti. It's currently only about $100 cheaper than 1080 (comparing cheapest to cheapest), and more expensive than 1070, which makes 980ti a poor purchase unless if you were going SLI, but even if that was the case, I'd rather get 1080 instead...

However, one thing I do notice with Taiwan, is that there seems to be no significant shortage of Pascal GPUs right now, at least nowhere near the level that the poor souls in US are experiencing.

I believe the "enough" supply of pascal cards here in Taiwan is due to the current high price tag and Taiwanese who are into PC gaming are not playing The Witcher 3 in 1440p.

But yeah, you'd imagine Taiwan being a PC gaming paradise when in reality.... Even finding a decent PC case here was a pain in the a$$.
