I keep seeing a lot of questions about upgrading to Windows 10, if they should do it or not, will it effect my games, etc. In this tutorial, I will answer some questions all of you have.

Will upgrading to Windows 10 delete all my stuff?
This is a yes and a no question. As is with most Windows operating systems, there are two ways to install it; through an upgrade or a clean install. A clean upgrade will preserve your settings, programs, data, etc., and upgrade your current installation to Windows 10. A clean install will erase your drive and force you to start over. What this means is you will have to backup all of your data before you begin and then transfer it back over when it's done.

What do I need to know about my PC before upgrading?
The simple answer to this is you need to know everything about it. You need to know if things are compatible or not as it will change the way your computer operates, etc. As explained below with programs being compatible with Windows, minimum system requirements apply to the hardware foundation of your computer as well. Do your homework before upgrading. Taking the upgrade because it's available is not always the best option.

Are my programs compatible with Windows 10?
Every program out there has what are called "minimum system requirements"; these are the minimum specifications your computer must have before you install it. These specifications also include what operating systems are compatible with that version of software. You can very easily Google your answer by typing in (i.e. Microsoft office 2010 system requirements) and you will find your compatibility info.

Is Windows 10 faster than Windows 7?
This is a trick answer as there are MANY factors involved. However, by itself, Windows 10 has been known to be quick among it's users. As is with previous versions, they also have performance options you can alter for your use.

Will upgrading to Windows 10 make my computer faster?
This is also a yes and a no question. If you have performance problems that are being caused by a corrupted operating system, installing Windows 10 will correct these and you might notice a difference there. However, depending on your hardware, compatibility, and your overall general use, you may not notice a difference at all.

I can't find anything with the new start menu
I hate this as well, very annoying. There is a program you can easily download (that's free) that can restore the classic start menu, it's called Classic Shell. Google it and it will direct you to their website where you can install it.

What makes Windows 10 so special?
To be honest, nothing. It's the latest and the greatest from Microsoft and they're releasing it with all the hype as they have with their previous versions.

Do professionals recommend Windows 10?
This question will get a different answer every time. My answer is I recommend upgrading to it if your hardware/software is compatible and you are open to change. Windows 10 operates differently and it has not made a lot of users happy about it. With that, as I've said before, just because it's the latest and the greatest doesn't always mean it's the best option.
