Socket 1150 vs. 2011

Socket 1150 vs. 2011 which is beter for mainly gaming and typical Pc stuff? Which does intel plan on staying with the longest?

Starting to research cause my i7 920 rig is acting up and not sure if it's the PS or mobo. That and it could use a new video card too so I think I may just be beter off putting that money into a new rig.

No reason to go for the 2011 socket above the 1150 socket for normal PC use.

right now intel sticking with both chipsets. there having issues with haswell replacment right now and pushing back the tick-toc cycle.

the 1150 is great chipset for two card sli or one card set up. if your going with more gpu or a sound and a wifi card use 2011 do to it having more pci lanes.

Ok so does that article account for this pushback? Sounds like 1150 would be beter than cause I'd say one video card with a possible 2nd down the road and a sound card which should handle that fine right? One thing I see is the 2011 has quad DDR vs. duel is there any major benefit to that?

in real world gaming no. in real like test software numbers somewhat.

I'm in the exact same situation with my i7 920 setup dying on me for quite some time. I'm currently pursuing a 2011 setup (although 1150 has its benefits it's a tough choice, I know).

Quad channel does make a difference if you have the money to populate all required memory slots, and I suppose its a more stable technology (compared to the latter one, the 2011 socket is on the market for quite some time which gave the MB manufacturers time to perfect their products with better revisions). I'm not going to jump on a 1150 for the time being and I advise you to do the same. Besides, from the CPU's performance point of view, there's not much difference.
