I have just upgraded my PC to an 19 13900kf, new motherboard etc. I used the cooler from my old PC and everything seems fine cooling wise, the old PC was a i7 117600k and the cooler is a Corsair iCUE h100i.

However I've bought a more basic corsair water cooler for the older PC so its still a functioning computer and I noticed that it came with slightly different shorter studs for the newer 1700 socket. Would I be wise to swap my studs that I'm using on the i9 for the shorter ones even though it seems to be cooling ok, its a bit of a faff to dismantle everything. The bracket and everything seem to fit ok.

If everything fits and you are SURE that it is cooling properly, even when under a load such as Prime95 Small FFT or OCCT OCbase, then I probably wouldn't worry about it. I'm not 100% positive but I haven't heard anything about the 13th gen parts having the same issues with the socket as the 12th gen parts had, so as far as that part goes I can't say for certain but I doubt any of the aftermarket cooler manufacturers made any changes to their cooler hardware between those two generations. If they have, I haven't heard about it.

And for the record, just in case you are unfamiliar, this is what I am talking about.

I personally have a 12700k and used the washer method, which has worked outstandingly, but I have not seen any indications that the 13th gen parts have the same problems so either they don't or everybody is just assuming that since a fix is already available there was no need to address it further. I could look into it but then again, so could you.
