I own a Gigabyte X299 Aorus Ultra Gaming board with an I9 7900 CPU and am wondering if upgrading to the 9980XE CPU and Gigabyte Ultra Gaming Pro board is a good buy? I play intensive games with a 1080TI card and planning to get a 2080TI card when I can. Thanks from Shawn.

You'd be better off buying a 9900k and z390 board than that processor. Your planned route. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-xeon-w-3175x-cpu,5976-5.html

You'll see that overall there is literally nothing better at gaming than the 9900k. You're about to pay that much money to not have the best gaming processor. Obviously it's your choice but even in the couple of games where the 9900k loses average frames it's minimum frames are a good bit better than the hedt stuff.
