Socket 7 Upgrade

Hello:
I have a Pentium MMX 166Mhz prossessor and according to Wcpuid 3.0:
Host Bridge: ALi Aladdin 4/4+
South Bridge: ALi M1533

I found out that my MB is a PC Chips M560 v4.1
BIOS is 08/28/1997 S
id-string is: 51-0505-001437-00111111-071595-M1531/43-001_10_TX_PRO-H

The FSB can go up to 83Mhz and the Multiplier up to 3x.

And voltages go from 2.5v to 3.5v

I understand that i can use an AMD K6-2 500 Mhz, do the 2x read 6x trick, and set the FSB to 83 Mhz on the same motherboard (6x83=498), but
How do I set the 2.2v I need? How can I solve this?
Do I need to update my BIOS?

One final quetion:
Can I actually use the K6-2 500Mhz on my board?

You can use it at 2.8v core, if you use proper cooling. Get a nice sized socket Athlon or PIII cooler and use a flat clip on it from and earlier cooler. I have done this with great results on the K6-2 400.
Youre already set to 2.8v core with the MMX cpu, so all you need to do is change the multiplier to 2x.
Be aware that your processor will be running at 6x, even if bios gives you the 2x number. You can verify the true speed by using any diagnostic program that check speeds, such as WCPUID.

THG has a nice article about upgrading Socket7 systems, including several pitfalls you don't want to get trapped in and how to tell if your mobo supports them. I could list them (from memory!!), but you'd be better off just reading the article:

My personal recommendation is a 400MHz+ K6-III (66MHz x 6 @ 2 setting).
