Are your temperatures high? It's been reported that AMD chips with the Newcastle core (the models with 512K L2 cache) are not communicating with Bioses correctly.

For instance, I have the AMD 64 3200+ Newcastle core and my bios thinks it's running at 60C. We had a whole session going about it here:

Check your mobo manufacturer's web site for a bios update. Mine is a DFI and they don't seem to have one yet.

If that's not your problem though I recommend the all copper Zalman 7700 Cooler with Arctic Silver 5. It keeps things very cool and you can turn the fan down to below audible.

thanks and i have the clawhammer 1mb i have been to my mobos site its a gigabyte make the website is always down and i read other places that the bios communicate poorly with my k8nspro board to.

see the reason y i want to get another cooler is i know my bios temp readouts are wrong but i have a case temp and it says its aroung 98 F during load that dosent seem right so i figured i would give a diff heatsink and fan a go, i wouldnt mind a quieter one niether the venus 12 i got is so load.

any more suggestions is anyone running a socket 754 chip, i need an awsome heatsink fan combo that is not to load.

thanks

im really looking for some reviews and opinions, does anyone know a socket 754 heatsink buyers guide cuz u can read up on the fan speed, air flow, and noise but u cant really tell if the heatsink has good heat displacment im really looking for that kind of info not fan specs.
