Socket LGA775 or socket 775 ??

I am new to this forums.. and would like to purchase a new motherboard , I found many Asus M/B with socket LGA 775 , what is LGA stand for? and what is the purpose of it ? is it make a lot different than just socket 775 ?
should I get the LGA socket or Just socket 775 . I tried to find information about this matter but couldn't find any.. thanks for any reply..

It depends prolly on the CPU you will be getting. Socket LGA 775 and Socket 775 are same I believe, with the later one without being said with the word, "Socket".

You might be mistaking Socket 774 with any or both of these. Socket 774 comes from AMD where as Socket 775/LGA 775 comes from Intel, I am fan of the later one. It's just awesome to even see the LGA 775 panel on the Motherboard. It looks alot more PRO than the AMD ones!

The Intel Socket 775 and LGA775 are the same. LGA stands for Land Grid Array.

Prince14, the Amd socket you're talking about is the socket 754.
