I have a Biostar N68S3B and waiting for a AMD Phenom II X4 840, on the specs page, both have the same socket type AM3 but when you check for compatibility on the Biostar website, it says they do not support this CPU. So does this CPU work with this motherboard or not?

When I said yes. I meant that it should work just fine. The 840 was one that sneaked up a few months ago with no word. They just probably have not updated the supported list, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

oh no i wasnt trying to contradict you, i agree it should work just fine.

The 840 is really an athlon II quad Propus core. Since the Athlon II X4 645 is the same thing and that is supported on your MB all the right stuff is there. I'd check the mb makers web site for bios update and make sure you are on latest. The bios update would detect the cpu (CPUID = 100F43).

Technically yes. I really doubt it wouldn't work though. You can try to contact the manufacturer and double check (although I heard Biostar's customer support is iffy)
