Socket temp or core temp? which is more important?

Could someone please tell me which is more important? Cpu socket temp or cpu core temps? i'm getting 60c-70c just Browsing the internet on the core temps! but 40c-55c on the socket temp,But when i do intensive stuff (play games) my core temp goes to 40c-50c and my socket is around 70c. thanks!

I have a AMD athlon x4 860k with the stock cooler,and i'm using AMD overdrive to get the core temp,and Cupid HWmonitor for the socket

If you have problems, you should reapply thermal paste on the CPU.

My thermal paste is fine,the high temps are because i'm using the crappy stock cooler,All i would like to know Is what temp is more important, socket or core?
