Soft Mod 6800 to 6800 GT?

Um, that would be Riva Tuner. I'm a gonna go check it out. I'll post results!

Houston, we have a problem. I don't get it. I installed Riva Tuner 2.0 RC15 and I get a warning that says that it hasn't been tested with the drivers on my display adapter (61.77). The NVStrap tab doesn't show up. So I installed earlier drivers for the card to see if that helps. I didn't get the warning but the NVStrap tab still doesn't show up. Anybody know why? I checked a FAQ and I have all the necessary hardware/software. There's a hotfix for Riva Tuner, but it won't let me install it. Says it can't read the file. I downloaded it from a different site and got the same error.

UPDATE: I checked out another forum. I guess I need that hotfix or some other patch that isn't publicly available yet.

OOps, yeah-that obviously is Riva Tuner. My bad.

I have read more about the soft mod, and apparently it's due out in a new version of Riva Tuner. Is your problem that you can't see the NVStrap at all, or that this option doesn't show up? You should be able to see the NVStrap, that would be where you can force sidebanding and fastwrites.

NVStrap shows up in the poweruser part, but the actual tab, under low level system tweaks, doesn't show up. I also get that warning that my drivers are too new. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Any news/experiences on the subject? Anyone knows about 'regular' biosmods?

the Riva Tuner version hasn't come out yet. First place to have it will probably be www.guru3D.com, considering they're the "home" of Riva Tuner. Don't know of any bios mods yet.

I wish they would at least release a beta version or something. I am going nuts waiting to see if my 6800 can unlock the last 4 pipes.

I wonder what their bandwidth will look like, when they release it finally? Seems like a lot of people are very anxious to try it out.

I check EVERY DAY. I'm pathetic in that way. Knowing my luck it won't work but at least I'll know and sleep better. In the meantime, check out my post about the custom VGA Silencers. They are sweet and they work well too. I'm ordering my NV5 on monday! My stock HSF is the loudest thing in my case.

So Riva Tuner is the "only" thing for now to rely on? I suppose bios modding could get tricky , because of the ddr1 vs gdr3 latency, etc. This just HAS to work...

135€ is just a big jump for the GT, i'd rather spend that on a 19" so that I can actually run games in 1600x1200 😉

well, I haven't seen any usable bioses for the 6800nu, but if they can make a 128MB DDR 9800XT bios for a 9800 Pro (When XT's use DDR2, I believe) I'm sure there will be GT bioses in the work for us poor 6800nu guys & gals. But yeah, I'm hoping for this Riva Tuner thing to work. Even if it doesn't do much, the thought of unlocking pipelines is just plain cool.

well, don't get TOO excited. Even if you can unlock the pipes, there's no guarantee they'll work properly.
