Okay so, I'm almost done with my build and ready to start the pc in a bit. Putting the hardware together was pretty fun and easy. Now when it comes to software I'm a little bit concern. What 'steps' should I follow to start the pc? What would be the first things to install (besides windows)? And the apps or software's that I need? And for benchmarks and CPU/GPU performance which tests should I use in order to see that everything is working correctly? It would be great if I could get some recommendations of free programs (excluding windows of course).

For windows I will be getting a version of windows 8 and update it to windows 10 so for the drivers what should I do? I mean once I install windows how can I get internet connection for me to install the mobo drivers? Since the LAN connection is a feature of the mobo, it will not work with out its drivers right?

O and since I'll do the windows update I guess I'll have to install all the drivers for windows 8, make the update to windows 10 and then update again all the drivers again right?

Next to Windows you should download (at the very least) the drivers for the LAN on your MB then download the newest drivers for your MB and GPU from online. I use AVG free and it works really well. If you need a scanner for malware, Malwarebytes works great.

HWmonitor is a really good monitoring program (free).

Drivers.

If you are installing Windows 8 or 10, you will find most of your drivers will probably be auto detected and downloaded by Windows automatically. This is very handy.

The main drivers you might need to download and install yourself will be for the GPU. and depending on the hardware, Audio, LAN, Bluetooth, Wifi and keyboard/mouse (maybe).
You can find these with a simple google of your current hardware.

For testing 3D mark is generally a good idea, you will quickly know if your GU is performing correctly by running a benchmark here.

You will receive a disk with your MB that will have the drivers on it. I'm not 100% since I have not used Win10 yet but from what I hear Win10 should automatically grab those drivers although I would manually get the GPU drivers.
