Hello all!
I am from India.
I wish to build a system for majorly software development tasks. My budget is upto Rs. 25k.
I wish to buy :- Motherboard, CPU, RAM, PSU, SSD, GPU(optional).
I frequently use these simulaneously:
1. Firefox
2. Gedit
3. Shell
4. Vlc player/Pdf reader
I wish to move into Mobile development, so I will use these frequently in future:
1. Eclipse
2. Android Emulator
3. Visual Studio Express
4. Windows Phone Emulator
Also I would be dual booting. Linux and Windows. (ps: Is Hackintosh a possibility in my budget? :) )
I'm confused if I should go for i3 or i5? I think having a quad core CPU would be good for futureproofing. Or should I look at the 6 core AMDs?

Very occasionally I like to play games. I mostly play the Fifa series games. I also would like to have a cpu capable to doing rare photoshopping.
It would be good to play all the Fifa games till now in high resolutions, and having the possibility of playing the newer ones 4 years down the line, even in lowest resolutions would be OK. Please suggest a suitable graphic card which will meet these needs. I dont think I would benefit from a graphic card, apart from these tasks, so won't be spending on it.

This is most likely going to be my last desktop build. So I need it work well for the next 4years, after which I'll have moved onto other mobile devices. Futureproofing would be nice :)

Approximate Purchase Date: No such hurry
Budget Range: Rs. 25000. Can stretch to Rs. 30000 if convinced
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Firefox, Software Development, Fifa, Photoshop
Are you buying a monitor: No
Buying SSD: Yes. 64GB or 128GB
Parts to Upgrade: New build except the case
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: None
Location: India
Parts Preferences:No
Overclocking: No
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080
Additional Comments: Should I wait for some time? There seem to be lots of new technologies coming like intel gen5, ddr4, etc. Would they fit in my budget when they are released?

Solution
ok thanks for the clarification; here is a revised build suggestion

12,000 CPU: Intel I5 4440 Haswell Processor
05,000 Board: Gigabyte/Asrock/MSI B85 Motherboard
06,000 RAM: 1666 MHz 2X4=8 GB DDR3 RAM
05,000 Boot Drive: Samsung 840 Evo 120 GB SSD
02,000 Corsair VS 450
--------
30,000
--------

Notes
- DDR3 is not going anywhere antytime soon, so you can pick 4 GB now and 4 GB later if you want to trim the budget; DDR4 is for the spolit rich; you should know that it only works on X99 boards and they are upwards 30k each;

- graphics card purchase is a need basis one just as speakers are; you get them if you need them or else no; also, the gpu can be an upgrade later on when you feel like it;
You will need at least 60k for a decent build for your needs, however here is a suggestion that fits your budget

1,500 Zebronics/China made slim cabinet with SMPS
7,500 CPU: i3 4130 haswell
3,500 Board: Gigabyte/Biostar/Asrock H81 micro-ATX motherbaord
3,000 RAM: Corsair/GSkill 1666 MHz 4 GB RAM
3,500 storage: Seagate 1 TB HDD
1,000 Any DVD Writer
4,000 Graphics: Galaxy NVIDIA GT 730
8,000 Display: Dell 2240 L Monitor
1,000 Mouse/Keyboard/ Speakers
----------------------------------------------------------
33,000 half life's super value build
----------------------------------------------------------

Note
I could not tell if you needed a monitor; if not, spend five more on CPU and get an i5, and the remaining three on a good ups

Hey thanks for the feedback.
But I am looking to buy everything inside the case except the HDD ie. Mobo, Cpu, Ram, Psu, SSD, GPU(optional). Maybe I should edit my question?

I was thinking of atleast 4GB, possibly 8GB too. As DDR4 has launched, and I dont think I would be able to get a DDR3 if I need more some years later.

Also my Graphics needs are few. Does it make sense spend 4K for that occasional game?

Solution
Thanks a lot Half Life 😀
This seems to be a good system indeed!
Any reasons for avoiding AMD? They seem to be cheaper by a mile

I see that B85 works with Hackintosh :)
Do you know if GT730 and 840 Evo will work with it?

Also, would you suggest a better graphic card till 7k? As I can get an i5, hackintosh and gaming if I stretch my budget till Rs. 35k.

Thanks again

yes and yes

AMD R7 250x/NVIDIA GT 740 is a good choice for around 8k - 10k

AMD R7 260x/NVIDIA GTX 750 TI around 10-12k

energy efficiency is the major reason why intel is winning the cpu race since about 2 yrs; it takes more energy AND more cooling to power an amd processor as compared to an intel for the same performance;

as an ex-user of a macbook pro, ipad and other apple products, I have one warning about going the hackintosh way; you get locked down to their ecosystem and generally spend more for the software, tools and features; also file compatibility is another problem;

but a hackintosh is ok if you a) got money, in which case you should also go high end monitor and graphics card as well to have a matching hardware, or b) you are into creative arts, such as film, video or audio or picture development and editing;

Thanks!
I do use an iPad. Linux is my primary os. I feel that mac os x would be better than Windows as a second os in a dual boot.

All things considered, I think I'll give the gpu a miss for now and go for a better processor till 15k. I'll upgrade the gpu some time late, as upgrading a cpu is much costlier than upgrading a gpu

I am considering i5 4690. Would you suggest any other ones?
