I am looking for great software (free is a bonus but probably will never happen). For somebody like a mechanic to input the vechicle, owner information, mileage, and problem with resolution.

I was wondering if maybe there was software out there for computer stores with the same type of thing. Instead of computers in my case it would be automotive related.

Anybody have any suggestions?
I found this
http://www.lankar.com/ProductPricing.html

Which a local garage uses but at $2499 for myself is a bit much.

I really like the idea of the software also being able to input cost values and then print receipt of work done, etc.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Shopkey5 is the best it has all info to diag cars, recalls,TSB's, repair times to charge, even service intervals Plus it has customer input data that your looking for its not free its Price is 11 monthly payments of $159 for14 months of Service which = out to be about $125 over all or $159/month for 26-Months of Service which = out to be around $140 a month its no $2499. though its a product of Snap On Tools and Mitchell On Demand. I'm a Auto tech so I've used many products All Data pro is good but is alot more than $2499 and its only half as good as Shopkey5. Not one shop or dealership I've worked for ever used Lankar in 15 years I've never even heard about it.? I know it's too much to pay for especially when Shopkey5 is rated #1 and is cheaper and It's worth every dime. Hope that Helps.

I guess that depends one's customer base, and service and repair one offers. Not insulting!!! some can do just general some more like in shop rebuilds of engine, trans auto or manual, A/C certified, diesel all types depends on the Techs certs and the shop capabilities in Colorado a shop can not service A/C with out being certified like I am by MACS you can do it personaly to your own by using what I call suicide cans you can buy anyware but thats just puting a bandaid on it, if your not putting one on your self from the can exploding. any sorry that didnt help but if u can its well worth it.

pretty good but quite expensive price
