Well this is a weird one ...
So I built my PC about a month ago and everything was fine:

Intel i5-4690k CPU
Gigabyte Z97P - D3
EVGA GTX 970 FTW +
8GB of HyperX RAM
2x 1TB of seagate 7200RPM
120Gb Kingston SSD with Windows 8.1 installed

After a few weeks I decided to get the Widows 10 upgrade, when it all finished by PC kept freezing all my programs would say they have stopped working ( such as steam, google chrome and skype) and I couldn't do anything for about a minute so I went back to Windows 8.1 hoping my problems would be resolved but nothing changed, I still have problems with programs freezing ( its not as often as on windows 10 but it still happens) and my internet download speed reduce drastically, when everything was fine I was getting between 5-8 Mb/s but now it peaks at about 2-3 Mb/, drop all the way to 40 Kb/s and some time switches off for a few second. I don't know if this is a hardware problem or software but if anybody has any idea what causes or how to fix it I will be extremely happy :)

Download a harddrive tester from your haddrive manufacturer, check if the disk maybe just is done for, maybe all the juggling data around during the windows 10 install did it in.

Beyond that, I'd say do a clean windows 10 install, none of that upgrade/downgrade stuff, that's not good for the soul.. be kind to your system and do a clean install, even if it's kinda impressive that 8->10 upgrade works as well generally seems to 😉

Yes its true upgrading os is not a good idea. Upgrades always cause some sort of issue. The best is to do a clean imstallation.

As my experience i hate upgrades and it sucks. I will always recommend clean installations
