I'm starting a new build and don't know what cpu or motherboard to use. Main features needed is the software I'm using only uses one core of the cpu and will use 6 monitors, but don't need high end graphics. the software does a lot of data processing.

Solution
(PCPP is down so I can't give you a full build ATM)

If your software is very single threaded heavy, then I'd start with this:

Core i5-9600K
Asus Z390-A
GTX 1650 or GTX 1050 Ti.

Because GTX cards can't support six monitors, you'll want to plug two or three of your monitors into the motherboard so that the 9600K's IGPU will be used, then plug the rest into the dedicated graphics card. (Oh and in the BIOS you'll want to set the IGP to dual monitor mode)

Thanks for your reply, I'm using 2 monitors at the moment will go to 6 later. I was thinking ASrock Z390 Ultimate so I don't have to worry about add on's later?
Could I use the i5-9600k without graphics cards and get them later when I get the gtx cards?

One other question if you don't mind :)
Why should I use the i5?
Am I looking for high frequency rate or high thread count?
Or do both of these thing matter?

Also I currently have a samsung evo 250gb. If I get a samsung evo 1tb drive as the primary drive will it process data quicker because of the bigger cache?
