I have searched the web for a couple of hours and haven't found any useful information on this topic.

Heres what I want to do :

I got a laptop with 2 SATA Ports. Since I got a spare HDD lying around I want to create a RAID-0 to boot off to get a more responsive system. My BIOS does not have an option for a hardware RAID.
So I'm left with software RAID as my only option.

So how do I do that if it's even possible?

Solution
Not gonna happen. That level of software RAID would be "striping" in Windows, which would require you to boot windows before the striped array could get used. In order to boot to a RAID array of any kind your BIOS must support it or to use a dedicated RAID card like in a desktop/server.
