Software Recommendations for Video Editing / Slideshow / D..

I'm trying to figure out what package(s) to purchase to accomplish
several items, as detailed below...

I'd like a package that can accept imported video from a digital video
camera to be edited (including the insertion of titles, special
transitions from one video clip to the next, etc.).

I'd also like a package that can use both digital video from a digital
video camera and still photos from a digital camera to assemble a nice
slideshow that can be burned to S-VCD or DVD, complete with cool
transitions and effects, ability to include background music, etc.

I'd also like software that's able to put together nice DVD menus that
will appear on an individual's set-top DVD player when the S-VCD / DVD
is inserted. I'd like animation to be able to be a part of these DVD
menus.

I'm at a loss of what type of package can provide all of this
functionality, or if I'll need to look into purchasing multiple
software packages in order to be able to have all of the desired
functionality. Some of the packages I've been looking at thus far
are:

--- ULead Video Studio 8
--- ULead MovieFactory 3 + Disc Creator
--- Roxio VideoWave
--- Pinnacle Studio 9
--- Adobe Premiere
--- Adobe Encore

If there's anyone out there that can submit some recommendations for
any of the above-mentioned software (or other software that I haven't
listed above), I'd really appreciate the assistance/recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,
Brad H. McCollum

Checkout ProShow Gold from Photodex ( http://www.photodex.com )
and see if that works for you -- you can download their trial and see
what you think. I bought it recently and was quite happy with it.
It will burn a DVD, VCD standalone exe and a number of other options
with neat transitions etc and text effects. The only complaint I had
was that you can't generate a DV format output so you could include
it easily in another project with a different editor. According to their
support people, they have no current plans to include a DV codec
(I asked them). On the other hand, unlike other places, they actually
seem to respond to email questions for support and things !!
Generates very nice slide shows.

The price of Photodex at $70, but for the same price you can usually
pick up Studio 9 which will do the same thing plus a lot extra. Shop
around and you can find it on sale for less than seventy bucks.
