The Security Center service terminated with the following error:
Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software
restriction policy. For more information, open Event Viewer or contact your
system administrator.

Each time I try to start the Security Center Service, I get the above error.
I have no GPO that configures software restriction. I put in the GPO under
services for this service to start automatically, but it never starts. Any
suggestions?

Are you running a Windows XP beta?
Have you applied the latest build?

I do have the same error message in my Event Viewer. I'm using Win XP
and I just installed the SP2 RC1. The security center is a new feature
of the SP2. I didn't fin any other info about this error message, but
as it's only a RC, we can't really complain :) maybe it's worth
reporting it to MS?

I found this generic article:
