Hi there,
Today one of the software of my mac encountered a bug that caused my Thunderbolt Samsung X5 SSD to keep running ( possibly writing and reading) non-stop in a high speed way until the SSD drive is ejected automatically. The SSD surface feels also very very hot when its ejected. The whole high speed running process last about 10 hours. Questions are:

  1. Since I called Samsung they confirmed there's no protection to auto-eject the drive if it becomes too hot, Do you know if the Mac OS (mine is on 10.15 catalina) has this feature to automatically eject it if something is wrong?
  2. Would this 10 hour intense running (which also caused it to be very very hot) somehow significantly harm my SSD's health and life? Or 10 hours of intense working for SSD is really nothing , and is very normal.
  3. Can I still trust this SSD for my most important data or it's best to use another one for most important data. I know backup is always a must, but just wondering if you think I should change into another drive ,or it's unnecessary at all.
  4. So far the best app to check health and life length of SSD?
