Well I just sold my Connect 3d 9700pro (£110) for a Sapphire 9700pro (£200). Why you ask? Well my old 9700pro wouldnt do more than 345/320 gpu/mem clocks and this guy was selling my current card that went over 410/370 watercooled so I thought I'd take a risk and see what I could get.

Well my new toy arrived this morning, and its sitting at 370/340mhz on STOCK cooling and doesnt even give a slight artifact in any of the tests in 3dmark 2001 or 2003. Only when I push it upto 375/346 does it over heat because of the poor cooling. A big step up from my old card. Heres the details.

My barton @ 2.3ghz/200mhz fsb.
Old card 2001se stock: 16410
New card 2001se stock: 16650
Old card max stable o/c 16950
New card max stable o/c 17800

In 3dmark03 I've gone from 5,200 on my old card maxed out, to over 5,600 with this card not even maxed.... All for a measly £100 too :) New scores in sig below...

Well I'm pleased with my results and I just broke the 18k mark in 2001se too @ 387/342 gpu/mem but its not artifact free in 03 so it doesn't really count...

Hey speed are you going to try to break 20k barrier? I've decided I'm going to attach the Thermalright SK6+ with 60mm Delta fan on it, since i've alrdy reattached the shim, so I think it should hold 450grams of weight. Now I can have 8 huge Tweakmonster ramsinks.

-Intel PIV 2.4C @ 3.84G -Asus P4P800 -OCZ Gold 2x256 3700EL memory @ 256mhz 2.5-3-3-7 -Sapphire 9800pro @ 490/780 -SB audigy -80G Maxtor Diamond Plus9 Ultra ATA-133 hdd -450 Enermax PSU

Blast my head off! You got your 2.4c @ 3.84 GHZ That's a MAGNIFICENT OC!

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

Break the 20k barrier??? I will need to run my fsb at over 220mhz, have the barton at 2.5ghz and have the 9700 over 400mhz just to do that.

I'm happy with my system like it is and tbh I dont think I can get much more out of it, unless I got some more memory and went watercooling. It would be better to wait for A64 and do a whole upgrade later on. Don't forget my mobo doesn't like high fsb's and the fact my 2500 needs 1.9v to run at 2.5ghz... I've done with o/cing my system for now, time to reap the rewards :)
