Hi ! i have a ASRock Z97 Anniversary Board, this board comes only with HDMI Output, it so happens that my Screen broke and i sold my Graphics card long before this.. now i don't have any Video Output on that system.

I was asking myself if i would to Solder a VGA Port on it, since it has the space left empty, would there be any chance that it would work ?! or it wouldn't cause of some missing parts on the Mboard ?

Thanks.

(I am aware that there are HDMI converters to VGA )

Solution
Unlikely to work. Just because the pads for a port are there does not mean that all of the support components are present elsewhere on the board. Unless you want an expensive paperweight I suggest just use an adapter.

Looking at the board I see dozens of empty pads nearby, I have a feeling a lot is missing.

Could probably find a contemporary ASRock board that does have a VGA port, would probably be the same design, but SMD parts that small are usually not labeled.
