Solo 9500 up grades

i have a solo 9500 my dad gave me cuz it was taking up space it has .844 cpu and 256 ram and 20 gig hdd the bat is dead i have to plug in or the bat dies b4 windows starts i want to add a #2 hdd and get a new bat but dont know any place that has those i want 2 upgrade the fans and the cpu and the ram 2 max. how much can it have? i dont want to buy a new one i just love the pos. i know i could get a used 1 4 less but dont care like i said i love this pos.
p.s.. i also am having a a issues with the "fn" i have to hold it down to use type. HELP! please e-mail me at matbombardier@yahoo.com thanx.

Yes as Timop says, you're probably better off buying a cheap laptop/netbook and performing you own upgrades on it. A lot of the time a decent pre-built can be damn expensive due to the 'service charge' added on for their manual labour. As for DIYing your old laptop, cooling will be a problem as most older models needed much less powerful fans to keep the internal components cool.
