Question Solution to IT inventory Management

Hi All

I am hoping to pick some of your brains regarding inventory management.

Needs:
A solution that manages from when assets are ordered from the vendor and it arriving at the office all the way till the user receives the asset and eventually returns in as they leave the company or the asset is upgraded and is disposed off.

• capture asset information via bar code or via manual input and capture that data in a database (in house server used would be preferred)
• keep track of the asset history (owner(s) of the asset current status (in or out) Etc)
• provide up to date inventory status
• be able to allow IT to have a user sign off on any asset they receive or hand back

would any of you have any solution that could do what we need it to do?

There are a zillion asset management tools available. From Free to '$Thousands'.
A tool for 20 people is a lot different than a tool for 20,000 people.

that is my issue after doing research i don't know what to believe. company i work for has 250 staff do you have any names i can look up?

What dedicated IT people do you have? What are their inputs on this?

For that small amount of equipment just have someone write a database for you to do this. We have one running supporting about 7,000 pieces of equipment.

Yes...Access has a good template for this.
I've used it in the past.
