Solution to laptop overheating problem

I have laptop overheating issues while playing games(charger plugged in) and it shuts down automatically but it just works fine while doing other things like browsing or watching video. Does buying a cooling pad solve the problem or is there any solution to the problem?

I have toshiba Satellite L50- B907 laptop
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4210U CPU
2.4 GHz speed
AMD Radeon R7 M260 dedicated grahics card
6 gb ram

You could try to replace thermal paste of the laptop by yourself if you have a bit skill, otherwise take it to repair shop and let them do it.
If it still doesnt change then cooling pad could help, or replacing fan of the laptop.
