Hello,

I am currently building a new gaming computer and would like some checks to see if all the parts fit or if there are any better suggestions.

Approximate Purchase Date: In the next 2 weeks

Budget Range: ~1600 after rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, internet browsing, music (just listening, not editing)

Parts Not Required: OS, Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, Speakers

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, Amazon, Microcenter (I have 1 near me)

Country of Origin: USA

Parts Preferences: None

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire:No (I plan on using 1 card and upgrade with another 1 in 3-4 years)

Monitor Resolution: Currently I have 1680x1050, but I will get a bigger monitor for 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I looked around on other post made and I believe these are best bang for the buck and should hold me for about 3-4 years, if there are any other ways I can shave some money, I'm all ears :)

Is there any concern about airflow that I might need to get additional fans or replace the stock fans in the case?

Is the PSU too much and I should get a 650 or 700? In addition to upgrading to a new GPU in 3-4 years, I will also get an Ivy bridge processor around the same time to take advantage of PCI-e 3.0. I just don't want to get a 650W and have to buy a new PSU due to my upgrades.

Parts Chosen so far:

Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced RC-932-KKN5-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Compucase

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K

CPU Cooler: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus

Mobo: ASRock P67 EXTREME4 GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

GPU: MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC

PSU: CORSAIR Professional Series HX750 (CMPSU-750HX) 750W

HDD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB

SSD: Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Model F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM

Thanks everyone for your help in advance.

hey gotrice1284, I recently built a PC for myself with a bit tighter budget and one for a friend around your budget for the same use, so ill share my thoughts..
With the case, I was also drooling over the HAF 932 case but reality is, you really don't need a case that damn big. I highly recommend the HAF 922 which is a small step down to the mid tower; trust me, its still a beast, looks great, has all the features of the 32 minus some height and performs really cold for a smaller price.
Power supply; 750 is a great wattage point, but try the Antec Truepower 750W. I did a lot of research when I got mine and that looked like the best quality, pretty quiet too.
Otherwise the build looks nice, and take sky03's advice.

Thanks, are you talking about this 1?

That was the original board I considered, but I wanted a few more PCI 3.0 spots and front USB for easy access. Also in the case that I decide to SLI in the future, I have the ability. I know I said no to SLI, but I just wanted to have more options down the line.

Thanks I was still debating about the case size and I figured to get a larger case for more air flow. I previously had a CM mid tower and stuff to really cramped with just a large video card, but I'll take that into consideration :)

They have the same number of pci3. It's the sata 6gbs that differs (2 vs 4). Get the extreme4 if it's within your budget. You're right, it does give more options in the future.

Yea I meant USB port not PCI-E... I think I need glasses :??:

Any comments on the RAM and PSU from anyone?

I believe the 750 PSU can handle 2 580 in SLI if I go that route in 3-4 years, or would it be better to get 800 or 850 to be safe?

RAM is pretty standard so thats okay, though there are 50$ RAMs there.

With The psu, 750w is cutting it too close i think. 1 gtx580 draws a max of 244w. Double that and you're up to 488w, add about 100 for the cpu and another 100 for everything else and you're right up to 688. A quality psu like the corsair can support this, but it will be burdened.

I agree, I did some more research afterwards and I would be putting my PSU at near 100% which isn't good.

I changed the RAM to Corsair Vengeance since I don't believe cas 8 to 9 will have any noticable difference.

I was thinking about upgrading to Corsair AX850 so I have some room. Is this still too close you think?

Thanks for the help!

Edit: I found this combo to save some money.

I agree, but I save more if I buy my PSU and RAM as a combo

Yeah but at least he can stick another GTX 580 in there in the future, rather than upgrade to a more expensive single card.

It has 2 slots but it will run 2 cards at x16/x4 configuration, compared to the extreme4 at x8/x8.

I see and what are the drawbacks? Is it a huge difference? This was on newegg's detail unless its wrong:

2 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots (PCIE2/PCIE4: single at x16 (PCIE2) / x8 (PCIE4), or dual at x8 (PCIE2) / x8 (PCIE4))
