i was looking if dual molex to 8 pin is safe, turns out it is, i have tried it while building friend's PC.

The thumb rule is that if the PSU doesn't have connectors for the devices you need to connect, that PSU shouldn't be used. Given that you've lost the cables, I'd ask you not to use splitters/adapters.

How old is the unit, might I ask?
