Hello all, I was having trouble with my video locking up while gaming. After many hours and older drivers I took the video card out and re seated it. I let furmark go for about 45 minutes on the burn in test with no crashing then I played a game and now it works great again.
I was wondering if re seating my video card is what made it work properly again? That was the only thing that I did that made it work properly again.I was starting to regret buying an AMD card but it's fine now. I have a rx 570 with 8gb vram.

without inspecting both the PCIe slot and the card's connector there is no way to tell for sure.
if the card continues to become loose in this slot over time than it is definitely one or the other.

it's also possible that when you were manipulating the card back into it's slot that you may have accidentally re-seated loose power cables or knocked some other contributing factor back into it's proper place that has lead to the issue being resolved.

keep an eye on the card in it's slot and feel it every so often to ensure it is still firmly seated.

Most likely the video card did not originally seat properly.

No one wants to force anything with respect to a new build or card. You were rightfully cautious and "stopped" when the card "stopped". The card, however was simply, at that time, not fully in place.

So what might have originally felt as being in place was not actually in place.

The additional effort to reseat the card succeeded in a full and proper seating.

Plus cards and connectors can and do come loose due to expansion/contraction and vibrations.

All worked out. Could have been worse if you had just forced the card into place at the beginning.

Interesting! I was poking around the card before this happened.I musta unseated it while doing that.

I know re seating may help if theres no video at all but I didn't think it'd cause problems like bad performance.I like learning things. Thanks fellas! I'll try finding the solved button for this thread. I couldn't find it before.

Can someone tell me how to mark a thread as solved?
