I recently got a new Lenovo laptop (y410p). While updating the graphics drivers (NVIDIA 332.21) I accidentally shut down the laptop (technically not me). When I started it up again the monitor started flashing on and off (when it was on it was just a black screen).

I managed to solve the problem by going into the BIOS and changing a setting to UMA ( or something like that). Basically I switched it from discrete (chooses between the NVIDIA or the integrated) to the UMA (which only used the integrated).

But now when trying to download the drivers for the GPU it says it cannot detect the GPU. When I check the device manager he is no GPU detected in the display adapters either. But, in the control panel un-install page it detects the graphics driver, PHYSX and audio.

Also the geforce experience doesn't detect any drivers. What do I do! It's like 2 weeks old so I don't want to send it back so soon (took forever to ship) and I really wanna play black flag. II have a few thoughts but I'm not a tech genius and don't want to screw up my laptop more then I already have.

HELP!!! ASAP!!! PLEASE!!!

Yeah It was the only way I could get the laptop to boot properly since the driver update got messed up.

Should I get rid of everything nvidia related because i only updated the physx and the driver

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking about doing that but I wanted ideas from people with more experience with computers. I didn't follow this exactly but here's what I did.

First I got rid of the graphics driver and physx.(not audio or geforce experience). Then I shutdown and went into the bios. Switched it back to discrete (so it would read the nvidia card). Then I downloaded the lastest driver. After restarting the problem occured again so I went to the UMA (intergrated only mode) and unistalled the driver and physx again. Then I went back to discrete and I downloaded a beta driver. I think there must have been some error with the driver ( it seems many are having problems with the 332.21). After that the NVDIA card works. So yeah if anyone accidentally shut down their computer during a graphics driver installation just do this. I searched forever and couldn't find anything like this so yeah.

Thanks again woltej1!!!
