Hello, I have a tech support small business and am just out of school. Typically i dont work on smartphones but a good acquaintance of mine whos an elderly gentleman came in to my shop and asked me if I could change his phone number to his new phone he got a few days ago back to his old, move all his pictures and videos to his new, add all his contacts to his new, install all his old apps he had on his old phone and such to the new one. I would usually say no to this but this was so simple that I told him I would do it but will get back to him in a few days about the price. He agreed. I am just not sure how much to charge for this type of thing because typically people do this themselves. Basically he just wants me to change his number back (which is very easy with the provider he has) and reinstall all his apps and move his saved data to the new phone Any ideas would help me a lot! thanks

Well, how do you normally charge for support?

If it's like most, by time taken, I see no reason not to do that for this client. A smartphone is a true microcomputer that happens to have a phone feature. What you're doing, with the exception of the phone number switch (which is still technical support) is all solidly in the standard "tech support" bailiwick if you were doing it for two computers.

Charge accordingly.
