Question [SOLVED] i7 4770k z87 PRO (V EDITION) WINDOWS 10

So I've just setup a friend's old computer as my secondary workstation and am trying to get a healthy overclock.

Specs:
Core i7 4770k
Asus Z87 PRO (V EDITION)
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

This motherboard comes with its own suite of tools to overclock the processor. It's called AI Suite 3.
On every boot, I am presented with a popup informing me of the missing Intel MEI drivers.
To rectify that, I went to ASUS's website and downloaded the required drivers. But they keep on failing to install.
The errors says system match failed.

Can anyone at least confirm that a overclock with this configuration is even possible?

Your PC needs to have Microsoft* .NET framework 3.5 or higher for the intel MEI. So check it out, you may need to enable it. How to https://www.groovypost.com/howto/enable-net-framework-2-windows-8/

Hi, I already have Windows .NET Framework 3.5 installed. I am just unable to install the MEI drivers that I correctly downloaded from the ASUS website.

From the BIOS though, I did setup a proper overclock with my frequencies at 100mhz and ratio at 43. So my BIOS shows a speed of 4300 mhz. Once I have booted into Windows 10 Pro, my Task Manager and CPU-Z both show only 3.5ghz at 100% CPU utilisation during a stress test either using Conebench, or CPU-Z, OR AIDA64.

Because you can't install it before, you should uninstall the old one then install the new one.

For the cpu oc problem, may try to clear the CMOS to reset first, then try again. Or update the BIOS, if the MB does not have newer one, but keep in mind, update the BIOS, which may or may not brick your motherboard.

I will try to install the MEI from the link you've provided. But on a side note, my chipset z87 is not mentioned in the list of supported chipsets. Also, since I've been unable to install MEI, I don't have anything installed by default. If I go to device manager and then system, I don't find Intel Management Engine listed.

Also, I have updated the BIOS from the same link as above from the ASUS website for my particular MB. I haven't tried to reset CMOS, but I don't understand how that will change anything.

I have been able to overclock from the BIOS. The settings stick well. It's just that once I'm booted into Windows 10, it does not respect the overclock settings.

Hello guys, thanks a lot for all the help you tried to offer. I have solved this issue.

Turns out, the TPU switch on my motherboard was turned off, thus disabling both BLCK and Ratio customisation. So although I had those values changed in my BIOS, my windows would not respect those settings. Rest of the things were already in place. The driver's didn't need to be installed manually either. They just needed to be enabled using the switch.

I switched the TPU switch to ON state, rebooted, and immediately the MEI drivers showed up under my 'Systen Devices' section in Device Manager.

I have been successful to overclock the system to 4.4ghz stable at 1.215 voltage. Everything works well.
