Hi there,

I have a Geforce RTX2060 mounted on a MSI B450M Mortar Max. Occassionally when playing a game or also I can easily force it with a gpu stress program (OCCT software) I start getting constant beeps from the motherboard. The gpu temperature is at 70ºC which is inside the normal limits for this gpu.

What could be going on? I thought one possibility would be that MSI has a too low threshold for gpu temperature and it warns me unneccessarily

Thanks!

Solution
It could be a few different things.
I can only guess.
You could try testing the memory to see if it is producing errors.
Hi Bassman, this is the complete setup:

SSD drive: Samsung Evo 850Gb
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR4 3200Mhz PC-25600 16GB 2x8GB CL16
PSU: Corsair CV Series CV650 650W 80 Plus Bronze V2
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Stepping AF 3.6GHz BOX
MB: MSI B450M Mortar Max

Cpu fan: The one included with AMD Cpu

I ran the memory test for a few minutes and no problem... It looks related to the GPU though because it only beeps when I stress the gpu core (directly or when playing games)

How is the CPU temp on that scenario? My first thought is the motherboard is giving thermal alarms in the form of beeping. GPU being hot causing the CPU to heat up as well perhaps?

Check in your BIOS for something along the lines of thermal warning, on my Gigabyte board the setting is in the fan control menu. IIRC the default is off, but can't hurt to see for sanity check.

I assume the PSU is normal? As in voltage/power is stable throughout the load. The only thing I can think of now is some sort of voltage warning or something similar since the warning likely is from BIOS/firmware level and related to the GPU directly.

Then again the beeping seems to happen only at 70°C and beyond. Your guess is as good as mine, OP. But AFAIK motherboard BIOSes don't read GPU temps.

I guess it could also be just a faulty GPU... with all the GPU shortage maybe they are not testing them thoroughly enough. I think I will get a refund for all the components and buy something else :/

I finally found the problem!!! The system was working completely fine, but it was connected to a crappy SAI that announces 750W capacity but when it's loaded with 650W it beeps like crazy... the beeps were coming from the SAI, not from the MB... T_T

Thanks a lot for your help!
