So, i have my hp 800 g1
Specs : 14gb ram
Intel core i5 4th gen
No gpu
Normal psu with 320w
And 1tb hdd
Pretty basic setup
Lately my pc has been restarting alot without a reason, i would use my pc normally suddenly black screen and then it turns on normally
1st i checked for overheating my cpu looks fine
Then i tried replacing ram and didn't do anything
I am convinced that it isn't psu faulty
Because the motherboard has this green light means that it has constant electricity and when my pc restarts the green led still lit
Any help??

Hi. Obviously, there are so many things that can be going wrong in your system. Are you getting any information from the motherboard, like a series of beeps, and/or LED light displays? You might want to go to your motherboards manufacturer and download the instruction manual from their website. If you don't have a printed copy. I find it interesting that you are not getting a "blue screen of death" if you are using windows. One thing you can try, is installing another GPU in your rig. Something is definitely causing the system to shut down, and if you don't find out what is. Other components can be damaged and/or totally broken. The last option is to totally breakdown the entire system and putting together again. Often trying to figure out what the problem is without doing that. Means never finding out what's wrong. In the past I have just taken everything apart and starting from scratch put it back together, and fortunately everything was fine, but I never found out what actually was causing the problem. I hope others in the forum can offer additional advice. Good luck & stay well.

Hi. Aside from there being a parts problem. There could also be a software problem. When your PC is working, have you tried running any Windows repair software like Fix disk or Check disc (that is not exactly how the apps are spelled, but you can Google them, and see how to enter them in the Windows search box, and get an explanation of what they do). Also, you can run Windows Repair from your Windows installation disc. After you have tried everything that I have suggested below. You might want to reinstall Windows from your product disc or thumb drive. You can also select the option of downloading your version of Windows from Microsoft. You will need the product key at some point. I also suggest that you run a Google search using terms like "Spontaneous PC shut down", and/or "intermittent PC shutdowns". One thing that just came to mind is that your system may be overheating. Check your CPU cooling system. If it is an air cooler, there may be a dust build up preventing air flow. If you use liquid cooling there may be a problem with that. As I think about it, I think your CPU/motherboard are shutting the system down possibly due to overheating. That may explain why Windows is not "announcing" a problem. So that would mean that it is not an issue that the software can detect. A common reason for PCs shutting down is that the CPU is overheating. You might want to consider getting a new Heatsink. Further, even a problem with your GPU could cause a shut down. Check the exhaust fans on your GPU, and see if there is any dust build up. I suggest that you lay your PC on a flat surface with it open when you start it up. Watch what happens when you turn the PC on. Also, there may be a problem with one of the Apps you are using. One of them for whatever reason may be causing the PC to shut down because the file is corrupted, or is conflicting with other software. Back up your Apps and try deleting and then reinstalling them. I wish I could be of more help. I will respond if you have anymore questions, and I hope someone with more experience and knowledge can assist you. Lastly, while a lot of people don't put much stock in it. I would recommend that you create a "Restore Point" in Windows. When your PC is finally working perfectly. It doesn't always work, but I find it very helpful when Windows does an "Update". Which often means that it resets or breaks something like your Sound Settings etc. I create a system restore point every couple of days. Make sure any external hard drives you have attached to your computer have "system protection" turned ON when you go to the "System restore" screen.
Good luck and reach out as you like. Stay well. 😊

This happened to me before with a few other pcs it can be a failing motherboard at times.

Hi. Thanks for the additional info. I would suggest that in the future, (hopefully it won't be necessary) , that you start with that info. I have the HP product page up for your computer. I have no experience with that type of PC in particular. Other than the suggestions I have previously offered. I can only suggest that you reach out directly to HP Customer Service and their Tech team. Other that, you might want to take your computer to a repair shop and let them run some tests on it. If you only do basic stuff on your computer like surfing and emails. You could consider getting an inexpensive ($250.00) Chromebook, while you're trying to get your system up and running again. At least you'll have a reliable computer for the basics. I'm sorry that I can't help you any further.

Mxshii. I looked at your computer on Amazon. It has very good reviews. I don't mean to be dismissive, but I would say if HP can't help you, and a repair shop is out of the question because there are none in your area, or they prove to be too expensive. You might want to "cut your losses" and replace your present computer with a new one of the same model. When I suggested a Chromebook, I had no idea that your computer has a lower price than what I suggested. From previous experience, I've had really good repair shops charge $60 to $70 to do the basics on a PC. Obviously, that is almost half the price that you paid for your PC. If you decide to go with a new PC you can take the hard drive out of your present PC and put it in an external housing so that you will have all of your original files and folders ready to use with the new PC. I hope all of your data on your present PC are backed up on another hard drive, or in the cloud. Once again, I wish you good luck, and I'm sorry that I can't be of further assistance. Stay well.

Hello, i went to a repair shop and turned out to be psu failing because my light keeps cutting off alot while the pc is running
I am changing psu tomorrow

Excellent! Thank you for getting back to me, and letting me know you solved the problem. I'm sorry that a faulty PSU never crossed my mind. I've never had a PSU fail, but in all honesty. I would have assumed if the PSU was faulty, it just wouldn't have started up in the first place. I'm happy for you that the problem is solved. 👍 👍 😊 Stay well.
