Question Solved: No video signal to the monitor after power outage ?

Hi.

My bedroom PC is made by Lenovo. It came with Windows 8, but was quickly upgraded to 10. Obviously, it’s not new, but has been working excellently.

Problem: We had a power outage at home this morning while I was at work. Now, after power on, the fans spin much louder AND my Samsung C24F390FHN monitor doesn’t show a video signal. Though, both HDMI and Analogue video cables seem to be working, since the monitor alerts that either cable isn’t working while it, that cable, is disconnected.

I have no clue how to troubleshoot now, since I can’t see what is happening on the screen.

No, I don’t have a beep to guide me. Before I acquire help from a store, I desire to find a solution from you all. I’ve built and repaired many computers, so I can possibly use any help you throw at me. Anyone know what could be wrong? :)

Solution
Have you tried: Removing power cord and battery from laptop and then holding power button down for thirty seconds, then replace battery and power cord ,plug in and try restart?

Hmm… I guess you missed reading my post up there. It is a PC with a Samsung monitor. (No battery; plugs into the wall.) Will a laptop fix work on a PC?

Thank you @Fix_that_Glitch! I tried your instructions on my PC… and the 2nd time, after power cord unplugged and then holding power button for 30 complete seconds by watching a clock, I can see my monitor screen again!

No, I hadn’t tried that. What does that do? Maybe I can find out by searching through threads. Thank you good sir again!

Sorry when I read the complaints I skim as fast as possible to get to the help. I read Lenovo and Windows 8 and it clicked as a laptop. When electricity is interrupted on a pc/laptop it causes the memory to not be able to cycle out or clean itself if you will. And in the most basic way I can describe it is to say it just freezes it in the middle of its thinking and it freezes that way. When you power cycle the pc/laptop it clears out all the confusion/data and resets the computer.

WOW, really cool to read; thank you; I’ll rehash this if I ever use it to fix someone else’s machine!

I’ve never posted here before. Other threads have a green solved box in front of the title. I attempted to replace my question box, but the green solved box isn’t choosable… for me at least. Will it magically appear some day OR does this forum not always work well? It might just appear when a solution is chosen?

I am not sure what you are asking me, you marked my advice as the solved answer, and it is showing on my screen.

Well, on my phone, it shows: “Question (in a maroon bubble) Solved: No video signal to the monitor after power outage” as my thread. Another thread had: “Solved (in a bright green bubble)” at the start of their thread. I was just trying to get that Solved to appear instead of Question.

Hmm not sure, I did get the credit for you picking my answer as the solved answer.
