Hey,

I recently upgraded my Monitor from the Acer X34P to the Alienware AW3423DWF. I use the included USB ports in the monitor for my audio and microphone, as the cables cannot each the back of the PC.

After swapping the monitor, my PC will no longer turn off the screen nor enter sleep mode when idle. The screen stays on indefinitely. This is particularly worrying considering the new monitor is OLED and at risk of burn in.

Things I've tried that have not fixed the issue:

  • Ran powercfg /requests shows 'None' for all options
  • I do not have any USB controllers connected
  • adjusted power plan settings, and reset to defaults
  • Used DDU to reinstall display drivers
  • Disabled Nvidia overlay
  • Used DSIM and sfcscan
  • Disabled various programs one by one
  • Disabled USB Selective Suspend Setting in advanced power settings
  • powercfg /energy shows multiple USB devices "not Entering Selective Suspend", but with the caveat that "Note that this issue will not prevent the system from sleeping."
  • Changed advanced power settings to allow idle/sleep while media is playing
Starting the PC in safe mode with no networking allows the screen to turn off

Any other ideas/suggestions I could try?

Thanks

Make and model information for audio and microphone?

= = = =

Although it may be awkward and/or inconvenient test using the audio ports on the back (I/O Panel) of the PC.

Use known working USB extension cables if necessary.

The objective is to determine if audio will or can work in whole or in part.

And also allow the monitor to sleep.

It's a USB Focusrite audio interface & a USB microphone & both work fine. I've not diagnosed that they are the issue with the PC being unable to idle, but the only thing i've changed in the system is the monitor which these are connected to, so i'm unsure.
