[Solved] Screeching noises for few moments when using external soundcard (Steinberg UR12)

I have a Steinberg UR12 which when I use with my new build randomly gives screeching noises for a few moments. The device used as output doesn't matter (headphones or speakers) and using motherboard output jack or 3.5mm jack on the cabinet gives no such issues, hence the problem is with the soundcard (I suppose).

I have been using it with my laptop for past few years and there was no such problem like this back then. I've tried using different usb ports, wiring up everything again (for the speaker), zeroing the gain on mic and high-z input but to no avail.

I haven't used it with the laptop in a while to see if the issue has carried on, but that would be next course of action.

Really puzzled why this is happening.

It was just an old driver issue. Windows loads old drivers for Steinberg and just updating it from their website fixes the problem.
