[SOLVED] System Freezing when Playing on Video Card Display

Reverting Motherboard BIOS to Version 2.1 Fixed the Issue.
With ASrock Motherboards, Do not use the BIOS version 2.7 with the Sapphire Radeon R9 270X.
It was this BIOS version that started the issue.

Hi there,

I have started having an issue with my system where, whenever I try playing a Game using a Display plugged into my video card, the system freezes, and i have to power off/restart the system to do anything.

My system is:
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A78M-HD+
Processor: AMD A8-7600 @3.1Ghz/3.8Ghz (Turbo)
RAM: 16GB (2x8) Crucial DDR3 1600Mhz
HDD: 2x Seagate Barracuda 1TB
PSU: Enermax B500-SB 500W ATX PSU
Video Card: Sapphire R9 270X Toxic

I`m 95% that your PSU is at fault.
You have a very low quality PSU, and also of low wattage.
I recommend you upgrade to a 500-550W PSU, and a quality one.

Not necessarily. Do you have any friend that could borrow you their PSU for a bit to test this? - considering they have a stronger and better PSU.

Unfortunately no friends. and No money to get a new PSU

The Entire system is new. I was able to use it fine for about 2 weeks before this issue came up.

Alright, i'm reopening this issue, as it still hasn't gone after getting a new PSU

Make sure you have installed the latest fdrivers for your motherboard, GPU, and everything you can think of.

Before re-installing the GPU driver with the latest version, use this in order to properly remove the old driver. Just uninstalling or installing over it can cause your build to crash.

I just tried that. Didn't help. From memory, it happened just after i updated the Mobo's BIOS

In try case, try to roll back to the previous bios for your mobo. Or even check if there`s a new version available.

No new Version, but how would I roll back?

If you know the version that you had previously, download it, and flash your bios.
You should be able to flash the bios the same way you previously did.

didn't find out which one I had. but reverted to ver2.1. will update if it was successful, installing a game now.
