[SOLVED] very good pc and even on lowest settings i lag

I play games like overwatch,fortnite,realm royale and for example on overwatch i have all graphical settings on the lowest and i still lag. heres my specifications.

Intel i7 6700k
MSI GTX 980ti
HyperX Fury 16gb DDR4
MSI z170 Gaming M7
Corsair H100i with 2 noctua fans
NZXT S340 Elite
Crucial 500GB SSD
2x Corsair fans with red led
Corsair CX600 600w
Asus AC56 Networks card

I have updated my drivers, checked my temps and they are around 20-40 celsius. I checked gpu-z and i saw that my gpu was running on x8 and that it supports x16 but i don't know how to fix that.
On fortnite i sometimes lag on one of the lowest settings. I just got this pc yesterday for alot of money and i want to use this pc to have a good experience with gaming. if anyone could help me i will be active and answer any questions as good as i can. thanks for reading i also got a 120 hertz monitor so i don't think thats the problem.

Does this only happen when you play multi-player(online) or also when you're playing offline?

Also, you switch PCI-E modes in BIOS... but you also want to make sure the video card is actually installed into the top(1) slot that's labelled PCI-E x16

I don't play any games that has a offline part to it. so i don't know about that. i made sure the video card is in the x16 slot.

I also ran a game and monitored my gpu and cpu and i noticed my cpu was always on 80-100% load and my gpu was around 10-30% it looks like my cpu is doing everything for the gpu does anyone have a solution to this?

Your monitor is plugged into the video card right? Other then that, you can manually manage game settings from the Nvidia Control Panel: https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/pc-components/how-set-default-graphics-card-3612668/

the 2nd tab where u choose high performance processor isnt there for me

If you do not have the option to choose "high performance nvidia..", then that means your system only sees the nvidia card as the sole video card(which is how it's supposed to be). You should only get that option if you have both "Intel HD graphics" and "Nvidia".

So... since your system is using more CPU then GPU, that means you should raise the resolution/details in the games to force them to use more of the GPU.

The guy i bought the pc from remembered there was something weird with the motherboard so it only limited the cpu to 0.8ghz so we went into the bios and we fixed it. if anyone has a similar problem to mine pm me and ill walk u through it. but this is a rare occasion so idk if anyone is gonna find this possible to be theirs problem. thanks for trying to help toshibitsu
